Credit Transfer and Recognition Process

  1. Before starting the enrolment process, the student should request the recognition and transfer of credits of the studies he/she has taken and passed in other university centers on official degree and/or any other type of course from the Academic Secretary's Office of the center.
  2. The student submits all necessary documentation:
    • Completed application form.
    • Certificate of studies (legalized).
    • Official program(s) of those subjects for which transfer or recognition is requested.
  3. The presiding validation commission of the center proceeds to study the case. The committee may consult the coordinators of studies, professors, etc. if considered necessary.
  4. The interested student is notified of his/her acceptance on the course by a representative of the validation committee by means of an interview. This decision will be conditioned by the approval of the validation committee of the Ramon Llull University.
  5. Once all the applications have been studied, the proposals will be transferred to the Rector's Office for their final resolution and approval by the validation commission of the Ramon Llull University (this commission is made up of a representative of each center and the Vice Rector responsible for the subject).
  6. The Recognition and Validation Committee of the URL will approve the final resolution of each case and will formally inform students of this decision through the issuance of a Certificate of Recognition.
  7. Similarly, the Academic Secretary of the Center will inform the student in the case of a partially or totally negative decision.
  8. The student must formalize the required administrative procedures at the Academic Secretary's Office of the Center and pay the corresponding fee for recognition and/or credit transfer.
  9. The subjects and courses recognized will appear with this denomination in the student’s academic record at Ramon Llull University.

Credit Transfer

In the official academic documents accrediting the studies passed by the student, all the credits obtained in official studies taken previously, in our University or in any other will also be included, regardless of whether the student completed the degree program or not. These credits will be recorded as transfer credits and will be reflected in the European Diploma Supplement, regulated by Royal Decree 1044/2003, of August 1, 2003, which establishes the procedure for the issuance of the European Diploma Supplement by universities.

Once the university academic record of the enrolling student has been received, it is evaluated by the Academic Secretary. Next, all the student’s credits that have already approved are re-classified, and all those credits that cannot be recognized due to their nature are incorporated into the student's records as transferred.

Credit Recognition

All credits previously obtained by the student in official studies at any University, or in university courses as part of other degrees, referred to in Article 34.1 of the Organic Law 6/2001, of December 21, Universities, which can be computed for obtaining the degree, will be recognized.

Credit recognition at the URL:

Credit recognition, for the purpose of computing credits for obtaining an official degree, is understood to be the acceptance by the URL of credits that, having been obtained in official courses, at the URL or another university, are computed for the purpose of obtaining an official degree. Likewise, credits obtained on other official higher education courses or university courses which constitute degree programs may be recognized. Credits may also be recognized for accredited work and professional experience, provided that it is related to the competencies inherent to the degree.

The number of credits for professional or work experience and non-official university studies must not exceed 15 percent of the total number of credits that make up the study plan.

The syllabus of each degree will reflect the volume of credits that may be used in these procedures, as well as the conditions and generic characteristics of the same.

For this purpose, in accordance with the regulations established by the University, the following basic rules must be observed:

  1. Credits corresponding to those subjects taken as part of an official university degree that are in line with the competencies and knowledge associated with the subjects taken by the student and those foreseen in the study plan or that are of a cross-cutting nature will be automatically recognized;
    • Credits corresponding to basic training courses will be automatically recognized, in accordance with Article 10.9 of the Royal Decree 822/2021 of September 28, which establishes the organization of official university education for all students coming from degrees in the same field of knowledge.
    • The credits of the rest of the subjects and subjects between degrees in the same field of knowledge or in different fields will also be subject to recognition, always taking into account the academic and formative coherence of the knowledge, competencies and skills that define the subjects or subjects to be recognized with those existing in the syllabus of the degree program the student wishes to enroll on.
    • Similarly, students may transfer up to 6 credits awarded for participation in university cooperation projects, solidarity, cultural, sports and any other type of representation. Furthermore, other academic activities organized by the university for teaching purposes may also be recognized. However, in no case may they represent the totality of the six credits subject to the recognition established in this section.
  2. The recognition of credits for professional experience and for the student's participation in university cooperation activities will not include their qualification, and therefore they will not be used to determine the student’s final degree qualification.
  3. Credits corresponding to Bachelor's and Master's Degree Final Projects may not be used for credit recognition; likewise, credits corresponding to such Bachelor's and Master's Degree Final Projects may not be recognized.

All credits obtained by the student in official courses taken at any university, those recognized and those passed to obtain the corresponding degree, will be included in the student's academic record and reflected in the European Diploma Supplement, regulated by Royal Decree 1044/2003, of August 1, 2003, which establishes the procedure for the issuance by universities of the European Diploma Supplement.
