Gabriel Fernàndez Ubiergo

Gabriel Fernàndez i Ubiergo is Full Professor for the Ramon Llull University - La Salle. He graduated as Telecommunication Engineer in 1993 from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and obtained a PhD in Communication Systems by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne in 1997.
From 1992 to 1997 he was researcher for the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne and the University of Lausanne in the field of image processing. During 1995 he was also visiting researcher in the University of California in Santa Cruz.
Since 1997 he has been with La Salle School of Engineering - Ramon Llull University were, besides the teaching responsibilities, he has been holding several positions as principal researcher of the Research Group in Audiovisual and Multimedia Technologies (2005-2008) and the Research Group in Media Technologies (2008-2013) as well as head of Audiovisual Technologies Department (2001-2011). He was general co-chair of the IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo 2011 (ICME 2011). Since 2012 he has combined the academic activity with the entrepreneurial, where he has been the CTO of some start-up companies. He is currently the academic director of the Degree in Animation.
