Project Management is a discipline that applies principles, concepts, tools and techniques to improve project performance and organisational effectiveness. Project Management adds value by improving the probability of consistently delivering successful projects.

The goal of the Master of Science in Project Management is to provide students with an advanced, specialised and multidisciplinary training in Project Management within a professional environment.

The program will provide students with the necessary skills to direct and manage projects, as well as developing the abilities to lead the management of an organisation. Additionally, as justified, the program will provide students with the knowledge and abilities related to the management of organisations’ processes.

At the conclusion of the programme, students will be able to define, plan, execute and control a range of projects as well as understand the critical link between people, projects and business strategy.

The Master of Science in Project Management is a part time programme taught entirely in English targeted at participants who wish to acquire advanced project management skills.

What do they prepare you for?

The goal of the program is to provide students with an advanced, specialised and multidisciplinary training in Project Management within a professional environment. The Master will provide students with the necessary skills to direct and manage projects, as well as developing the abilities to lead the management of an organisation. Additionally, as justified, the program will provide students with the knowledge and abilities related to the management of organisations’ processes.

The objectives of the program are:

  1. To guarantee that students receive the knowledge related to the Project Management activities: definition of project objectives, application of the tools and processes available to achieve such objectives, awareness of project particulars, communication and reporting, project performance assessment, etc.
  2. To provide a framework where students can focus on specific project management specialisations that relate to their own work and acquire knowledge on the specific methodology used for their field.
  3.  To provide students the necessary knowledge to manage all types of projects within different business scenarios.
  4.  To present appropriate project management methodologies, tools and techniques for managing projects according to differing deadlines, costs, quality and final products.
  5. To analyse the project requirements and constraints - time, cost, resources, monitoring and quality - as well as their management and integration in the definition of the project costs.
  6.  To present the techniques and management skills to motivate project teams.
  7.  To facilitate the application of project management tools.
  8.  To present the technical aspects of contracts and contract administration related to products and services.

Access requirements

Entrance Profile:

Students who hold a Bachelor’s Degree are eligible to study the MSc of Master of Science on Project Management.Students must demonstrate a good understanding of English, including the ability to read and write with proficiency. Relevant working experience may qualify a candidate.

Applicants who are currently studying the last year of their Bachelor's Degrees should have finished their university studies before the beginning of the programme.

MSc of Science in Project Management students come from different countries, cultures and academic backgrounds. This nurtures the multi-cultural character of the course and enhances the training given in the classroom.

The program is aimed at professionals whose positions demand coordination skills and who are either presently in charge of project development or will be in the near future. Directors and coordinators of work groups, software system technology directors and technicians, R+D personnel, engineers, architects, professionals from sectors as diverse as local government, telecommunications, computing, banking, insurance, construction, pharmaceutical, industry, chemistry, research, consultancy, project companies, etc.

 

Degree:

Students who complete the programme satisfactorily will receive the Bologna accredited master degree in MSc of Science in Project Management by La Salle – Ramon Llull University.
