Representatives of La Salle Barcelona - Universitat Ramon Llull participate in the 4YFN startups congress

Campus researchers and members of La Salle Technova are part of a key industry event

Between February 26 and 29, Fira de Barcelona hosts a new edition of 4 Years From Now (4YFN), a reference event in the startup sector and which is linked to the Mobile World Congress (MWC), the exhibition of most influential connectivity in the world. La Salle Barcelona - Universitat Ramon Llull participates through two aspects of the campus: research and relations with companies.

On the one hand, researchers from the campus have presented the progress of the CowTalkPro project developed by researchers with the Animal Welfare Education Center (AWEC), a startup that has its own stand at the fair. Representatives from La Salle Technova, the innovation park of La Salle Barcelona - Universitat Ramon Llull, were also present at the fair to analyze the trends in the sector and establish links with emerging companies.

First results of the CowTalkPro project

CowTalkPro proposes the development of an acoustic sensor to detect vocalizations of dairy cows and thus be able to monitor the well-being of the animals. The aim is to identify problems in calves and cows through technology and, in this way, help farmers. The solution is based on placing acoustic sensors in the corrals and, through sound analysis, identify respiratory diseases in calves, detect the moment the cows give birth or have pain during milking. Currently, the sensors that were proposed a year ago have been developed and are operational, with results that are in the validation process.

Some of the campus researchers working on the project will attend the congress on February 28-29 to provide a detailed explanation of the process of developing and deploying the sensors on the farm, as well as the results obtained to date of today. In addition, they will provide a real-time exhibition of the detection performed by these sensors. This project is an indicator of how the research and knowledge transfer areas of La Salle Barcelona - Universitat Ramon Llull work with artificial intelligence applied in all kinds of projects and initiatives.
